Hi, I’m Sarah.
I have a PhD in picture books – the first of its kind in Australia. My thesis examined the importance and benefits of family diversity in Australian picture books.
I advocate for inclusive literature and the importance of supporting and celebrating all types of families. My research focuses on child welfare, education and social-emotional development, and how these are impacted by representation in books.
I have published my research in various journals and books, and spoken extensively on the importance of inclusive children’s literature at conferences all over the world.
Here you will find out more about my work and advocacy, as well as picture book resources for home, school and work.
Welcome and enjoy! x
